Most commercial recording projects are recorded in stages with multiple overdubs and a lot of editing and vocal tuning. This process unfortunately can be very costly so often bands will want to record as much as possible live, with perhaps just overdubbing vocals.
Here's a sample of a band recorded live at DKS Productions, with only minimal overdubs and mixing.
